Daltile, an American tile benchmark
Daltile started in 1947, when Robert M. Brittingham set up a small tile operation inside a Quonset hut in Dallas, Texas. He called it the Dallas Ceramic Company, and the idea was simple: make high-quality ceramic tile in the United States. It worked. By 1980 the company had grown enough to rename itself Dal-Tile.
Today Daltile is the largest tile and countertop manufacturer in North America. The line covers ceramic, porcelain, glass, and metal tile, plus natural stone, large-format slabs, and quartz countertops under the ONE Quartz Surfaces name. More than 70 collections are made in the United States, which means one source can supply a full kitchen or bath from floor to countertop.
In 2002, Mohawk Industries, the world's largest flooring manufacturer, acquired Daltile for 1.8 billion dollars. That backing brought serious research and logistics muscle. Daltile now runs more than 200 company-owned Sales Service Centers coast to coast. Tile products carry a one-year limited warranty against manufacturing defects, with extended coverage on select quartz surfaces.
