Custom vs. semi-custom: what's the difference?
Custom is built to your exact specifications. Semi-custom uses standard cabinet sizes you configure. Custom gives you more control; semi-custom saves time and money. We help you decide which fits your project.
What is the cabinet box actually made of?
Ask, because it changes by line. The spec sheet is where the answer lives, not the door. On some Medallion lines an all-plywood box is standard. On others the plywood box is an upgrade you tick, not a given. It matters more here than it does up north. Polk County air can sit near 90 percent humidity on a summer morning and fall to around 60 percent that same afternoon, and wood works through that swing every day. Particle board swells at the edges when it gets wet, and it never shrinks back. We will tell you which line gets you which box, and what the difference costs, before you sign anything.
What's the lead time?
Plan two to four weeks in design before the order goes in. After that, custom cabinets typically run ten to sixteen weeks from final approval to delivery. Semi-custom is faster, often four to eight weeks, though inset doors run six to ten. We confirm exact timing when you sign off on the order.
Can you match existing cabinets?
Often yes. Bring us a sample door and we'll see what we can do: match the stain, match the door style, or design something that complements what's already in place.
What happens at the cabinet design appointment?
You sit down with Matthew, who handles our kitchen design. He builds your kitchen on screen, so you see the room before a single cabinet ships. We work through the layout, the door style, the finish, and the storage together. Storage belongs in that first drawing, not bolted on later: which corner gets the pull-out, where the roll-outs earn their keep, what the sink base needs. Plan on two to four weeks from the first appointment to approved cabinet drawings. It moves as fast as your decisions do.
Do you coordinate countertops too?
Yes. We schedule the cabinet install and countertop template together so you get one timeline, one phone number to call.
How much do new cabinets cost?
Cabinet cost depends on your kitchen layout, door style, and whether you choose custom or semi-custom. Rather than quote a misleading per-foot number, we design your space and give you a written quote at no charge, so you see the real cost before you commit.
Who installs the cabinets?
Installers we train and certify. One project manager coordinates the whole job, and we back the install with an industry-best residential labor warranty.

The kitchen schedule
Tear out the old kitchen at the end of the wait, not the start.
A kitchen runs on two clocks. The first one is quiet. Your kitchen still works while a factory builds your boxes. Semi-custom cabinets with overlay doors run four to eight weeks from order to delivery, and inset doors run six to ten. Full custom is ten to sixteen weeks from sign-off.
The second clock is the loud one, and it is shorter than most people fear. Demo, install, punch list. It only starts when the truck is close, so the weeks you spend without a kitchen are the weeks you choose. Book the tear-out against the delivery date, not the deposit date.
Once the boxes are on site, the installers we train and certify set a standard kitchen over two to four days. Bigger kitchens and odd layouts take the long end. Most of that is shimming and leveling, not hanging boxes, and nothing else starts until that is right. Nobody can template a countertop until the cabinets are set and level. So on a kitchen getting both, the cabinet wait already covers the countertop wait. Count them separately and you plan around weeks you never spend.
