Laminate is hardwood's practical cousin. A high-resolution image of real wood is fused to a dense fiberboard core, sealed under a clear wear layer, and clicked together like a puzzle. It looks good, costs less, and installs fast. For dry rooms, bedrooms, living rooms, hallways, it's a smart, friendly choice.

Why laminate

  • Friendly price

Less per square foot than hardwood, tile, or most LVP. A great way to redo a lot of square footage without breaking the budget.

  • Convincing wood look

Modern laminate uses high-resolution imagery and embossed texture. From normal viewing distance, it reads as real wood.

  • Scratch resistant

The clear wear layer handles claws, kid toys, and furniture better than most floors. Tougher than real hardwood in this respect.

  • Quick to install

Click-lock floating install. Often done in a day for a typical bedroom or living room.

  • Easy to maintain

Sweep or vacuum. Damp-mop occasionally. No waxing, no resealing. Done.

  • Many wood looks

Oak, hickory, walnut, exotic. Stains from blonde to nearly black. Pick the look without picking the species.

Care

Living with it.

Sweep or vacuum regularly. Damp-mop with a barely-damp cloth. Laminate doesn't love standing water. Wipe spills the day they happen. Felt pads under furniture protect the surface. Skip steam mops and harsh cleaners.

Installation

Putting it down.

Most laminate jobs take a day. Click-lock planks float over an underlayment with proper expansion gaps at the walls. We level the subfloor where needed, lay the planks, and finish with transitions and baseboards. You can walk on it immediately.

Laminate questions

  • Is laminate waterproof?

Most laminates are not. The fiberboard core swells if it gets wet. For bathrooms, kitchens, and basements, LVP is the better choice. For dry rooms, laminate is fine.

  • Can I put laminate in a Florida home?

Yes, in dry rooms. We've installed thousands of laminate floors in Polk County. Just avoid bathrooms, laundries, and anywhere standing water is likely.

  • How long does laminate last?

Ten to twenty years in residential use. Higher-end laminates with thicker wear layers stretch longer. Warranties from the brands we carry range from twenty-five years to lifetime.

  • Laminate vs. LVP: which one?

If the room can get wet, LVP. If it stays dry and budget is the deciding factor, laminate. Both are good floors. The room makes the call.

  • Where can I get laminate flooring installed in Polk County, FL?

We install laminate across all of Polk County: Winter Haven, Lakeland, Auburndale, Bartow, Haines City, Davenport, Lake Alfred, and Lake Wales. Best in dry rooms: bedrooms, hallways, living areas. We'll point you to LVP if the room sees water.

  • Is laminate flooring good for Florida homes?

Laminate works well in dry Florida rooms: bedrooms, living rooms, hallways. It's not waterproof, so we steer kitchen, bath, and laundry installs toward LVP instead. Most of our Polk County laminate jobs are bedroom or living-room replacements where the budget calls for a wood-look floor without the cost of hardwood.
