American Olean, a century of American tile
American Olean traces back to 1923, when brothers Roy and Malcolm Schweiker started the Franklin Tile Company in Lansdale, Pennsylvania, with just six employees. They were making ceramic tile at a time when most decorative tile in the United States was still imported. The business grew, merged with another tile maker, and in 1964 took the name American Olean.
Over the decades American Olean built one of the most recognized tile brands in the country. The line covers ceramic, porcelain, glass, metal, and natural stone, with slip-resistant and antimicrobial options for the rooms that need them. In 1995 the brand merged with Dal-Tile, and in 2002 Dal-Tile was acquired by Mohawk Industries.
Today American Olean sits within the Dal-Tile division of Mohawk, backed by North American manufacturing and more than 200 Sales Service Centers. That means consistent supply, reliable quality control, and the research resources of a Fortune 500 company behind every collection. Warranty coverage matches Dal-Tile's standard one-year limited, with lifetime limited residential coverage on select lines.
