Stair Carpet Runner: Winter Haven Home

A homeowner near Lake Otis, off Dundee Road on the east side of Winter Haven, asked us about a staircase. The oak treads were in good shape and worth keeping in view. A runner does two jobs on stairs like these. It quiets the steps and gives a foot something softer to land on, and it leaves the wood showing at both edges.

We installed a Shaw Floors Essential Now runner in River Run, a patterned gray carpet in 100% Anso nylon, bound at the edges and run over the treads and risers. Nylon is the fiber we put on stairs. It springs back where a foot lands in the same spot a thousand times, which is what keeps a runner from wearing a lane down the middle. The binding gives each edge a clean, finished line against the oak. At the bottom the runner meets a wide-plank hardwood floor. At the top it meets wall-to-wall carpet on the landing. The stairs bridge two different floors without looking like an afterthought.

Stairs take more wear than any other floor in a house, and a runner puts the carpet where the wear happens. Installers we train and certify put this one down in August 2025. Like every job in a home, it carries our residential labor warranty.
