Shaw Industries started in Dalton, Georgia in 1946 as the Star Dye Company — a sock-dyeing operation founded by Clarence Shaw. Within a generation the family had pivoted to carpet, and by 1967 the residential Shaw Floors brand was on the floor. That kind of family-to-industry story is one of the reasons we feel at home carrying their products.

Robert Shaw took over as CEO in 1958 and built the company into one of the largest carpet manufacturers in the world. Today Shaw employs around 22,000 people worldwide, and the residential brand is still headquartered in Dalton. Tim Baucom is the current CEO.

On January 4, 2001, Berkshire Hathaway acquired Shaw outright. That kind of parent company matters when you're picking a floor — the warranties are real, the supply chain is steady, and the brand isn't going anywhere. Shaw has been a Berkshire Hathaway company for 25 years and counting.

Today Shaw is a true full-line manufacturer: carpet, hardwood, laminate, luxury vinyl, and tile & stone, all made in the US.
